The Cave Project
A place for encounter, healing & reconnection
La Herradura ("the horsehoe" - named after the shape of the hill) is a growing heartfelt project with around a 72 caves in a historic cave complex. These are being carefully restored to preserve their traditional charm while creating a conscious minimalist living environment.
Set amidst the impressive Andalusian landscape, a unique space is emerging for nature - based and healing retreats - a olace for rest, connection and creative unfolding.
I am Sabrina, a healing companion and the heart and soul of this lovingly designed retreat, where people can find peace, discover themselves and recharge their batteries.
I was born in Cologne in 1986 and grew up in the countryside. A few years ago, I followed the sun and emigrated to Andalusia. Here, I was entrusted with a mountain full of caves to transform an old place into something new, vibrant and healing. Today, it is a place of encounter, deceleration and inner reflection – nestled in the silence and beauty of Andalusian nature.
In my practice, I combine body and energy work with systemic constellations – accompanied by my sensitive animals, who provide support during the energy work.
Together with Teresa Fahrngruber and Andalaventura, we offer a variety of paths to healing and self-awareness.
Sustainability
What is so special about cave houses?
The first, most obvious reason is the architectural arrangement. However, there is another compelling reason for the boom and admiration for these constructions. A reason that has to do with our changing perception of the environment and sustainability. Cave houses, although some date back to the year 500, are more energy efficient than the vast majority of our 21st century homes and are better prepared for Andalusia's weather conditions. They maintain a constant temperature between 18 and 22 degrees all year round, so the use of air conditioning is not necessary.
This optimal thermal insulation leads to energy savings of up to 50%. In addition, caves have a high level of sound insulation, which prevents noise pollution.
We want to consciously respect our environment. For this reason, we are taking measures that help reduce the impact of our activities by betting on the use of LED lamps and gradually replacing the cisterns with double discharge tanks to reduce water consumption.
We work with biomass, a renewable biofuel in which we use organic matter as an energy source: from agricultural waste such as olive bones or fruit peels to wood residues such as sawdust. These components emit a type of CO into the atmosphere2 that is neutral to the environment as it is of plant origin.
We know that sustainable tourism can contribute to the development of our country and therefore we encourage all our guests to join this commitment, to use water and energy responsibly and gratefully, to buy local products and to connect with nature.
