El Geoparque de Granada
One of Andalusia's most fascinating landscapes
The Geoparque de Granada is a unique landscape in the north of the province of Granada.
Gorges, badlands, wide valleys and historic caves tell the story of millions of years of geological history.
Since 2020, this region has been part of the UNESCO Global Geoparks network and is a special place for nature, culture and sustainable tourism.
A landscape steeped in history
The geopark encompasses over 40 municipalities around Guadix, Baza and Huéscar.
The landscape was formed from a former large lake that changed over millions of years and shaped today's gorges and valleys.
The region is particularly known for:
- the spectacular badlands landscapes
- traditional cave dwellings
- fossil finds from geological history
- small authentic villages

The caves near Huéscar offer just such a retreat.
Naturally cool in summer, quiet and nestled in the landscape of the geopark.
From here, you can discover many of the region's most beautiful tours and activities – and at the same time, there is enough space for what often gets neglected on holiday:
silence, space and time to breathe deeply.
A place to not only visit Andalusia, but to truly experience it.
